The DOCX file is unzipped and parsed by mammoth.js, then rendered to PDF by jsPDF — both running as JavaScript inside this browser tab. Your document is never uploaded, so contracts, CVs, medical letters and anything else confidential stay on your own machine.

Frequently asked questions

Is the formatting preserved exactly?

Structure is preserved faithfully: headings, bold and italic, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, hyperlinks, blockquotes and embedded images all carry across. What is not reproduced pixel-for-pixel is Word’s page furniture — headers and footers, page numbers, footnotes, text boxes, multi-column layouts, and exact font choices. The converter applies a clean, professional document style instead. For most letters, reports, CVs and essays the result is excellent; for a heavily designed brochure, exporting from Word itself will be closer to the original.

Can I convert an old .doc file?

Not directly. The legacy .doc format is a binary format from the 1990s that browsers cannot read. Open it in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first, then convert here. The same applies to .rtf and Apple Pages files.

Do images inside the document come through?

Yes. Images embedded in the DOCX are extracted and placed inline in the PDF at their original resolution. Linked images that live on a web server rather than inside the file may not render, since the browser has to fetch them cross-origin.

Why does the preview look different from Word?

The preview shows exactly what the PDF will contain, which is the intended behaviour — no surprises after you download. It uses a clean typographic style rather than mimicking Word’s screen rendering. If the preview looks right, the PDF will look the same.

Is the text in the PDF selectable?

The page is rendered visually before being written into the PDF, so text is not selectable or searchable. If you need a searchable PDF, exporting directly from Word (File → Save As → PDF) is the right tool. This converter is for when you need a PDF quickly, on any device, without Word installed.

Can I convert a PDF back into Word?

A PDF to Word converter is next on our roadmap and will appear in the PDF Tools suite when it is ready. In the meantime, Word itself can open a PDF directly and will attempt to reconstruct an editable document from it.

Is there a file size limit?

No limit is imposed by us, because nothing is uploaded. Very long documents with many high-resolution images take longer and use more memory; if a 300-page document struggles on a phone, try it on a laptop or split the document first.

Convert Word documents to PDF on any device

PDF is the format you send when the layout must not shift and the recipient must not edit it — job applications, signed agreements, invoices, submitted coursework. The EkaivaKriti Word to PDF converter makes that conversion available anywhere, including on a phone or a borrowed computer with no copy of Microsoft Word installed.

Because the conversion runs locally, it is also the safe option when the document is sensitive. A CV with your home address, a client contract, a medical letter — none of it is uploaded to a third-party server, which is not something most free online converters can claim.

Need to combine documents once converted? Use Merge PDF to bind several converted files into one, Split PDF to pull out a section, or Rotate PDF to fix a page that came out sideways.

Good to know

If your document relies on headers, footers, page numbers or footnotes, export it from Word directly — those elements live in Word’s page model and no browser-based converter can reproduce them. For plain body content, this tool matches the original closely.
